Nip + Fab ‘Kale Fix Clay Mask’ Review

Hello and Welcome!

I hope that you’ve had a fantastic week. As you can tell by the title, today’s review will be on another Nip + Fab skincare product. I’ve reviewed both the ‘Dragon’s Blood Daily Fix Cleansing Pads’ (that I still use every day) and the ‘Glycolic Instant Fix Mask’ previously after buying them from TK Maxx a few months ago. Today I’ll be reviewing the ‘Kale Fix Clay Mask’ by Nip + Fab that I bought at the same time as the other two products.

Despite buying these a while ago, TK Maxx do currently have some Nip + Fab products, including the mask I’ll be discussing today. They disappeared for a while but now they’re back on the TK Maxx website, and in stores.

This ‘Kale Fix Clay Mask’ retails for £12.95 on the Nip + Fab website, although it is currently on sale (as of 09/04/18) for £5.97. When I bought this from TK Maxx, I paid £3.99. Currently on the TK Maxx website, the mask is up for £4.99, which is still cheaper than it is on the Nip + Fab website, but slightly more than what I paid a few months ago.

All Nip + Fab skincare packaging is very similar. Like how the ‘Glycolic Instant Fix Mask’ had a cardboard box that was half silver, half showing the bottle colour, this product has a very similar design with a half green box. Again the tube is very similar, it’s the same size, and is a pale blueish shade. This tube is matte, whereas the Glycolic mask tube is more shiny.

As I said in the previous Nip + Fab mask review, I do quite like the packaging. I didn’t keep the box but I like how minimalist the tube is. The only complaint I have is that I wish it was a more distinguishable colour from the Glycolic mask tube as I always find myself picking up the wrong one (usually because I do masks at night and I’m tired).

On the Nip + Fab website, this mask has the following description:

‘A super-charged nourishing clay face mask enriched with minerals and witch hazel, works to draw away impurities without drying the skin. The addition of an advanced moisture complex helps to restore the skin’s natural barrier function & regulate water loss to increase hydration for the skin to leave it feeling touchably soft with a fresh glow.

kale extract: prevents dryness of skin

odraaline®: hydrates + smoothes

DuraQuench™: boosts radiance’

I really love the way this mask smells, it’s super refreshing and smells a lot like cucumber. It does have cucumber extract in it, which might be why! The scent isn’t too strong and I don’t notice it after it’s been on my skin for a while.

The directions say to apply a thin layer to clean skin avoiding the eye area, then leave for 5-10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water using circular motions.

I’ve used this mask quite a few times and I really enjoy it. I have dry skin so I tend to gravitate towards masks of this nature that are supposed to hydrate. I wouldn’t say that it moisturises as well as some masks I’ve used (e.g. sheet masks), but it still does a pretty good job and leaves my skin feeling really soft.

I do find it a little hard to apply. The hole that the product comes out of it pretty small and since the mask is a clay mask, it’s quite thick, so I find myself having to keep going back and squeezing more out as I haven’t got enough.

This mask also says it’s suitable for sensitive skin. I can’t really vouch for whether that’s true or not because I don’t have sensitive skin. However, I did use this mask after my skin’s reaction to the Arbonne RE9 Advanced range, and it did sting a little. I’m unsure if that’s a testament to how it would react if you have sensitive skin though, since that was during a bad reaction, and not how my skin usually is.

UPDATE: I have used this mask on my skin normally and it was absolutely fine. I don’t think using it when I was having a bad reaction was a wise idea and I wouldn’t recommend. Since it does have cucumber in it and generally feels pretty soothing, I think it would be good for sensitive skin. Just don’t use it if you’re having an allergic reaction (you probably shouldn’t use anything whilst having an allergic reaction, don’t be silly like me).

Overall, I think this mask is really good. I love the way that it smells and it does help my dry skin. I tend to use it in the middle of my skincare routine, after cleansing and toning but before eyecream and moisturiser. Using it how I do definitely gives my skin an extra boost of moisture and when I wake up the next day my skin is extra soft. I’d definitely recommend giving this mask a go if you think it’s something that you like. I’ve used it probably around 4 times now and there’s still quite a lot in the tube, so I’d imagine that you can get quite a few uses out of it! If you did want to get it then I’d recommend grabbing it from the Nip + Fab website here whilst it’s on sale (you can also get student discount on their website).

This brings us to the end of this review on the Nip + Fab ‘Kale Fix Clay Mask’, I hope that you enjoyed it! If you did then please give this review a like, and as always be sure to follow my blog if you aren’t already following. You can follow using a wordpress account, or via email.
